Description
A quick and easy 15-minute weeknight meal featuring crispy chicken bites tossed in a sweet, savory, and sticky garlic-sesame sauce. Perfect for busy evenings and crowd-pleasing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Pat chicken pieces dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper. Toss in cornstarch until lightly coated.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken in a single layer (cook in batches if necessary) and cook undisturbed for 2 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until cooked through. Remove chicken from pan and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium. Pour the sauce into the same skillet and simmer for 1-2 minutes until it thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.
- Return the chicken to the pan and toss to coat evenly in the sauce. Remove from heat immediately.
- Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve immediately over rice, noodles, or vegetables.
Notes
Do not crowd the pan to ensure the chicken crisps rather than steams. Pat chicken dry before coating in cornstarch for best texture. Toast sesame seeds in a dry pan for 2 minutes for enhanced flavor. For a spicy version, add sriracha or chili garlic sauce to the sauce.
