Description

These soft, pillowy garlic butter breadsticks are ready in under 30 minutes with zero kneading stress. Perfect for dipping in warm marinara sauce, this easy recipe delivers restaurant-quality comfort food at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ cups (280g) All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) Active Dry Yeast (or Instant Yeast)
  • 1 cup (240ml) Warm Water (105-110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • ½ cup (113g) Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 45 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Parsley
  • ¼ cup (25g) Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • 2 cups Marinara Sauce, warmed
  • Extra Parmesan for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Proof the yeast: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and stir gently. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the dough: Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture. Add flour one cup at a time, stirring until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
  3. First rise: Grease the bowl with oil, place dough inside, turn to coat, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm spot for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. Shape the breadsticks: Punch down the dough gently. Roll out into a rectangle fitting the baking dish. Cut into 12 sticks or squares.
  6. Second rise: Place shaped dough in the baking dish, cover loosely, and let rise for 10 minutes.
  7. Prepare garlic butter: While dough rises, melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic and parsley, stirring for 30 seconds until fragrant (do not brown).
  8. Bake: Brush breadsticks generously with garlic butter mixture. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Finish and serve: Immediately brush with remaining garlic butter and sprinkle with Parmesan. Let cool for 2-3 minutes and serve with warm marinara sauce.

Notes

Do not overbake; pull out when just starting to turn gold. Keep the dough soft and slightly sticky for the best texture. Use fresh garlic for best flavor. Warm the marinara sauce before serving for the best dipping experience. Leftovers can be reheated in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes.
