Slow Cooker Honey Bourbon Barbecue Ribs: 5-Ingredient BBQ

  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 5 hours 10 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

Tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs cooked in a slow cooker with a sticky, sweet, and smoky honey bourbon glaze. This stress-free recipe uses just a few pantry staples for maximum flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 pounds Baby Back Ribs
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce
  • ½ cup Honey
  • ¼ cup Bourbon
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. Remove the silverskin membrane from the back of the ribs using a paper towel and knife if needed. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt to create the dry rub.
  3. Generously rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring it gets between the bones.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, honey, and bourbon until the honey is dissolved.
  5. Place the seasoned ribs in the slow cooker. Pour the sauce mixture over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours (approximately 5 hours) until the meat is tender and pulls back from the bones.
  7. Carefully remove the ribs from the slow cooker and place them on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  8. Broil on high for 3-5 minutes, watching closely, until the glaze is caramelized and sticky.
  9. Let the ribs rest for 5 minutes before cutting into individual portions and serving.

Notes

Remove the silverskin membrane from the ribs for better tenderness. Cook on low for best results; high heat may make the ribs tough. Broiling is optional but recommended for a caramelized crust. If using a thick BBQ sauce, you may need to thin it slightly with water. Most of the alcohol in the bourbon cooks off, but about 25-30% remains.
