Description
These no-bake protein balls are a dense, chewy, and intensely chocolatey snack that requires zero baking. Perfect for post-workout recovery or a quick energy boost, they combine oats, peanut butter, and protein powder for a high-protein treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups (150g) old-fashioned rolled oats
- ½ cup (130g) creamy peanut butter
- 1 scoop (~30g) vanilla whey or plant-based protein powder
- 2 tbsp (10g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp (45ml) honey or maple syrup
- 2–3 tbsp (30-45ml) milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- ¼ cup (40g) dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Whisk rolled oats, protein powder, and cocoa powder together in a large mixing bowl to ensure even distribution.
- Add peanut butter, honey (or maple syrup), and milk to the dry ingredients. If peanut butter is stiff, microwave for 15-20 seconds to soften.
- Mix vigorously with a silicone spatula until the consistency resembles damp sand or crumbly cookie dough. The mixture should hold together when squeezed in your palm.
- Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips.
- Portion the dough using an ice cream scoop or two spoons onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Wet hands slightly and roll each portion into a smooth ball, pressing down gently to flatten slightly.
- Chill in the freezer for 20 minutes or the refrigerator for 30 minutes until firm.
Notes
Ensure the mixture holds together when squeezed but looks loose in the bowl to avoid gummy results. Chill thoroughly to solidify the fats. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
