Description
These easy, chewy blondies feature a rich maple glaze and toasted pecans. They are dense, fudgy, and perfect for busy weeknights or bake sales.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups (400g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (120ml) pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 1 cup pecans, roughly chopped and toasted
- Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides, and grease the parchment.
- Melt the butter in the microwave or a saucepan. Let it cool slightly so it is warm but not piping hot.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla for about 2 minutes until glossy and thickened.
- Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chopped toasted pecans and spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until edges are golden brown and the center looks slightly soft. Insert a toothpick to check; it should come out with moist crumbs.
- While blondies bake, make the glaze: Heat maple syrup and heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat until simmering. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar until smooth.
- Pour the warm glaze over the hot blondies immediately after removing them from the oven.
- Sprinkle with toasted pecans and flaky sea salt.
- Let cool completely in the pan (at least 30 minutes) before cutting into squares.
Notes
Toast pecans for enhanced flavor. Do not overbake; blondies will firm up as they cool. Use pure maple syrup for the best glaze flavor. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
