Blueberry Banana Greek Yogurt Smoothie

  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A thick, creamy, and nutritious 3-ingredient smoothie made with frozen blueberries, ripe banana, and Greek yogurt. It provides a protein-packed breakfast that keeps you full and tastes like dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 medium ripe banana (peeled and frozen)
  • 1/2 cup milk (almond, dairy, or oat)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/2 cup spinach (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep ingredients: Peel and freeze the banana chunks for at least 30 minutes or overnight if not already frozen.
  2. Add liquid to blender: Pour in the milk first to help blades spin freely.
  3. Add remaining ingredients: Add Greek yogurt, frozen banana chunks, and frozen blueberries. Add optional boosters like chia seeds, vanilla, or spinach now.
  4. Blend: Start on low speed and gradually increase to high. Blend for 60-90 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.
  5. Adjust consistency: If too thick, add more milk one tablespoon at a time. If too thin, add more frozen berries or ice.
  6. Taste and adjust: Taste the smoothie and add honey or vanilla if desired, then blend for 10 more seconds to mix.
  7. Serve: Pour into glasses immediately. Top with fresh berries or honey if desired.

Notes

For best texture, use frozen bananas and frozen blueberries. Do not use fresh fruit unless adding ice, as it may make the smoothie watery. Greek yogurt provides thickness and protein; avoid substituting with regular yogurt for this specific texture. The smoothie can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours, but should be stirred well before drinking as separation may occur.
