Description
A quick and easy 5-ingredient after-school snack that transforms garlic bread into cheesy pizza bites. Ready in just 15 minutes, these kid-approved bites are perfect for beating the afternoon slump.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large loaf or 1 package frozen garlic bread
- ½ cup marinara sauce
- 1½ cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for finishing)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- If using frozen garlic bread, let it thaw slightly. Cut the loaf into 12-16 squares (or slice a baguette diagonally) and lay them in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- Spread about 1 teaspoon of marinara sauce onto each piece of bread, leaving a small border around the edge.
- Sprinkle approximately 2 tablespoons of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce on each piece.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbling, and slightly golden brown.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with dried Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes.
- If using, brush the tops lightly with melted butter.
- Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving to allow cheese to set and prevent burns.
Notes
Do not overload with sauce to prevent sogginess. Shred your own cheese for better melting. Let bites cool for 2-3 minutes before eating as the cheese will be very hot. Can be frozen unbaked for later use.
